Last Saturday afternoon, hundreds of WAB families and staff members gathered on the WAB Sports Field for a sunny afternoon of community fun. Thanks to everyone who helped make this such a special day for our families, especially Derek Davies and the WAB Properties crew. It was great to see so many families, including new families, gathered together as a community.
Side note: As I was leaving the picnic by taxi, the driver asked me if I'd just gotten out of school. Not knowing the word for "festival" or "community gathering" I tried explaining that we were resting and eating together as a family. He nodded in understanding and announced, "It was a happy day!" Though I was disappointed in my Chinese, I had to agreed that yes, indeed, the Community Picnic had been a happy day! -- Katharine Mitchell, WAB Journalist
