APAC Volleyball at WAB
The boys played a strong tournament, going undefeated without losing a set in the whole tournament! This is not a result from easy opponents, but a result of hard work and dedication from the boys! Being students athletes requires students to take on extra hours for work, training and keeping your grades. To become champions in such manner and style the boys should be proud!
Highlights included great passing from all players, most notably our co-captain Bar. The team offered some great plays from our power and offside hitters - JS, Ulrik, Cliff, Tom, Alex and Conor - who played a personal best game. Bart was unstoppable on his offside hits. Our second setter, Justin, also set some of his best in this APAC tournament and has shown great improvement from the start of the season. Our big middles, Vicente and Lukas, both received ALL APAC recognition and played some outstanding games. Our other co-captain and setter, Aaron, played a strong tournament displaying quick wit and soft hands scoring the final point in the finals.
Special recognition to our seniors who will be greatly missed, not just for their ability and leadership on the court, but their leadership off the court and the qualities they have shown as true WAB tigers and sportsmen: Aaron, Bar, Vicente, Bart, JS and Ulrik.
The girls played perhaps the game of the tournament scoring 234 points in the final game. The sets were close with all the games ending within 2 points of each other. With a skilled Brent team as their opponents, the WAB girls played with passion and a desire to achieve something no other WAB team has done yet, to win an APAC championship title! It was a well-earned victory for the girls who played some of their best volleyball to date. It is always the hope of a coach that the players reach their peak performance at the tournament and our girls did just that! For those who did not watch the final game, it could not have been written better with points going back and forth all the way to the end.
Congratulations to Petra, Tiffany, Alex, Steffie, Cindy, Megan, Monica, Jenny, Valarie, and Sophie!
Thank you to all the friends, families, teachers and peer students who's showed their support for the first APAC championship! Congratulations to all of the players and coaches for a job well done.
