SAT Prep Course – Fall 2008

A SAT Prep Course will be offered at WAB in September, through the American company Academic Services International. Registrations forms are available in the Guidance office. Please register with Michelle Chow in the HS Guidance Office by June 30.

Elementary and Middle School Parent Program: The International Child

Seeking ES Tutors

Single Parenting Workshop

The WAB community is invited to attend an evening workshop on single parenting on Wednesday April 2, 6:00pm - 7:30pm. Based on the success of a recent workshop on the same topic, and in response to community requests for an evening workshop, the WAB counseling department invites all parents and teachers, single or married, to join this discussion.

HS Counseling

Coping with Homesickness

As Grade 6 – 11 families prepare for the upcoming China Studies Field Trips, WAB Counselors offer parents a few tips on homesickness. They suggest for parents to discuss an upcoming separation with their children as a healthy and effective way to help ease, and even prevent, natural feelings of missing home.

Pastoral Care in the HS: Identifying Risks, Reducing Harm

HS Counselors and staff have been leading discussions with Grade 9 students, encouraging them to identify various risks they have or could encounter as part of their student lives in Beijing, ranging from bullying and peer pressure to underage smoking and illegal drug use.

Spring IB Training Seminars & Summer Study Programs

Stanford University is offering a summer school program for Pre-IB and Mid-IB courses from July 6 to July 25. While the course is focused on IB course work preparation, there is also the opportunity to attend SAT practice classes and work with College Guidance officers.

Cyber Bullying

Middle Schoolers’ lives exist in a variety of places: school hallways, after school activities, home and friends’ houses. Now many middle school students also have lives on the Internet, and unfortunately sometimes bullying has followed.

ECC Parents: Ensuring a good start to school for your young child

In the first few days of Nursery or Pre-Kindergarten your child will face new places, people, rules and relationships. This can be both exciting and frightening, sometimes for you as well as your child. Your feelings will guide your child's emotions. If you approach your child's first days with confidence that they'll be fine, using positive words about school and loving attention, their anxieties will be reduced.

ES Friendship Friday

Everybody needs friends. Keeping friends that may have moved to another homeroom or making friends in a new class or when you’re new to Beijing can be hard especially in an international school where people come and go!
