Brian Johnson, MSHS Mathematics Teacher and HOD, shares an enthusiasm for Mathematics with his students!

Would you like to understand more about why WAB uses the ISA, how it works and how to understand the ISA report you recently received for your child in Grade 3, 5, 7 or 10? Please join Jo Loiterton, HS Counselor, for a presentation in the HS Amphitheater this Thursday, April 10, at 9:00am. All parents are invited.

Recently, WAB shared the extraordinary results from this year's International School Assessment (ISA) tests, which are taken by students in Grades 3, 5, 7 and 10 in the areas of reading, comprehension and mathematics (For reference - http://lianxi.wab.edu/featured/article/08/03/isa-results-indicate-wab-st...).

Following on this success, WAB has received further confirmation that WAB students are performing above the international average in Mathematics when compared with other leading international schools.

For the first time, WAB participated this year in a small project with nine other international schools of strong international and academic standing to take a closer look at their ISA grade level math results. These schools have agreed to share their results anonymously. This means that WAB can now compare our standing in math against some of the strongest and most reputable international schools in the world.

Across all of the four grade levels, WAB is performing at the top end of the 10 schools. This is an outstanding result for WAB and demonstrates the high standard of teaching and learning that goes on in our mathematics classrooms. This result also supports the outstanding SAT results from last year, which indicated that the WAB average for the Mathematics section of the SAT Reasoning test was 80 points stronger than the US national average. Results from this year’s SAT Reasoning results indicate that these results may be even stronger. WAB will keep the community informed after those results have been received and analyzed.
