| 加油!加油!The WAB community is invited to come along and cheer for the ACAMIS Division 1 Soccer Championships and a Friendly Match between combined teams of international school students and Special Olympics athletes, including Li Bo (pictured), a former athlete and ongoing coach. |
Over 120 student athletes from international schools across China will converge on the WAB sports fields from April 17 - 19 to compete in the 2008 ACAMIS Division I Soccer Championships. WAB welcomes all athletes, coaches and supporters to this premier ACAMIS sporting competition among leading sporting schools in ACAMIS.
Participating Schools include:
- American International School of Guangzhou
- Australian International School Hong Kong
- Concordia International School Shanghai
- International School of Tianjin
- Shanghai American School
- Western Academy of Beijing
In addition, these ACAMIS Championships will include a celebration of sport and friendship with a Friendship Match of Soccer with Special Olympics athletes, some of which were members of the Gold Medal winning China National Team from the 2007 Special Olympics. The Friendship Match, which will take place following Opening Ceremonies, is an opportunity to promote awareness and understanding of Special Olympics athletes, which hopefully leads to further acceptance and inclusion into the community and society.
The WABX Department still seeks WAB families to host around 50 young athletes who'll be competing in the ACAMIS competition. If your family can host a student (or two!), please contact Martin Halpin, WABX Coordinator, at mhalpin@wab.edu or 13910062454.
