| The Class of 2008 |
The graduation ceremony for the ‘Class of 2008’ will be held tomorrow, Saturday May 31, at the Confucius Temple, where Chinese scholars have gathered for over eight centuries in pursuit of knowledge and wisdom and in honor of Confucius. This special ceremony will bring a close to a busy period for Grade 12 students. Between sitting IBDP exams, finalizing college plans and saying goodbye to friends, students have been under a tremendous amount of pressure.
As one of their final highlights of the year, the Grade 12 students enjoyed their China Studies Field Trip to Guilin and Yangshuo last week. Students enjoyed a fun-filled week including trekking, rafting, rock climbing, biking and exploring the beautiful countryside and interesting culture of the area. Their celebration will continue with the graduation ceremony tomorrow morning, as well as an evening dinner followed by a dance.
The Confucius Temple is located on Guo Zi Jian, near Yonghe Gong (Lama Temple), inside the second ring road. Please look out for the chaperones and signage on Guo Zi Jian for the exact location of the Temple. Families who have any difficulty finding the Temple on the morning of the ceremony can telephone Alan Ma on 1391011601 for directions in Chinese or English. There is very limited parking around the Temple and the small one-way street it is on is crowded with bicycles and people on foot. Families are therefore advised to either take taxis, public transportation or use a driver who can drop them off at the Temple and return later.
Graduates are requested to be at the Temple by 9:15am, with the ceremony beginning at 10:00am sharp. We expect the ceremony to last approximately two hours. Light refreshments will be served afterwards.
