On Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, the WAB HS welcomed visiting IB Art Examiner Gillian Welch to examine the works of eleven Grade 12 IBDP Art students. After the examination, the exhibit was opened up to the community for a very special evening of viewing. The exhibited works reflected diversity in many unique themes and media. The show featured Sculptures, Paintings, Printmaking, Film, Installation Art, Drawings, Fashion, Ceramics, Photography and Mixed Media work.

"The exhibition was an outstanding display of the students' talents," said Tamara Palmer, HS Art Teacher.

Tripp, a Grade 12 IB Art student talked about his experience with the exhibition and studying art at WAB: "Studying art at WAB is crazy good because we get to use so many resources like actual real artists use. I wouldn't ever have dreamed of using such big canvases in the States. Talking to the examiner was easy and it was actually fun being able to talk about my art. The IB Art show was the one thing I have been looking forward to for two years now. I actually sold some work so I'm excited about that because I never thought anyone would want to buy my art. It is and has been a super fun experience, and I never would have had such an opportunity had it not been for the arts program here, Mr. Finnigan especially. Also Ms. Palmer, I owe a lot to her as well, and Linda too."

One of Tripp's works on display was the image he created to accompany his film of the same name, "Trainwreck," which received a Golden Buddha Award at the 2007 Beijing Schools Film Festival, hosted at WAB last April. The poster doubled as the cover art for his DVD.

One of Tripp's only disappointments was that the show was just up for one night. Regardless, he considered it a success.
