MIT College Visit

WAB will host a visit from the international admissions officer of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Grade 11 - 12 students interested in applying to MIT will be meeting with the visiting officer on Tuesday October 14. In addition, Grade 11 - 12 parents are invited to attend a workshop on The State of Selective U.S. College Admissions Today.

Parent/Counselor Coffee

HS Counselors will hold the last of three coffee mornings for Grade 12 parents on Thursday October 16, 9:00am, Wild Ginger Cafe. Grade 12 parents who have not yet met with counselors to discuss their child's life after WAB are encouraged to attend this session, or to set up an appointment.

PSAT Exam

Grade 10 - 11 students registered to sit the PSAT on Saturday October 18 are to report to the HS at 8:45am.

MYP Parent Workshop: Academic Rigor

The next MYP workshop for Grade 6 - 10 parents, Assessment and Academic Rigor in the MYP, will be Friday October 31, 9:00am.

SAT Exam Reminder

All HS students registered to sit the October 4 SAT Exam are to report to the HS Koi Garden at 7:45am.

HS Drop-in Writing Lab

The HS Drop-in Writing Lab is open to all HS students every Tuesday, 3:30pm - 5:30pm, in HS Room 7144.

APAC Choir Auditions

APAC choir auditions will be held on Monday September 22.

IB Diploma Results for Class of 2008

WAB’s second class of Grade 12 students to undertake the IB Diploma exams performed exceptionally well and significantly above the global average. Results provide evidence of the high quality of learning and teaching at WAB, and establishes a high benchmark for Grade 12 students studying for the IBDP at WAB.

"Dreaming of Phelps"

Johanne, Grade 10, describes her personal journey of struggling to swim 12-meters in the WAB pool during HPE class to rising every morning before dawn in order to train herself to swim an easy 1,500-meters. WAB's First AP Calculus Class Excels

In May, a dedicated group of Grade 11 pupils became WAB's first students to undertake the Advanced Placement (AP) examination in calculus, representing a significant step forward in promoting and recognizing excellence within WAB's mathematics program.

MS/HS ESOL Seeks Tutors

The MS and HS ESOL Departments are sometimes asked to recommend tutors for non-native English speakers.

Grade 12 IB DP Extended Essays

Full IB Diploma students have been reminded that the full 4,000 word Draft of the Extended Essay is due Monday September 22. 

IB Biology Students Test Lake Water

IB Biology students scouted Wild Duck Lake last week, observing the lake's aquatic life as part of the practical work requirement of IB Higher/ Standard Level Biology courses in the Ecology topic.

HS Math Center

Every Monday and Tuesday afternoon, Jim Gerber's classroom is open to students who want to drop by to discuss mathematics.
