| Michelle Brogan, of the Australian Women's Team, shared her smile and expertise with WAB students and staff. |
On Tuesday afternoon, WAB MS and HS students took their PE block to a new level when they welcomed members of the Australian Women's Basketball Team for a skills clinic.
Allison Coutts, HS HPE Teacher said, "It was amazing. The kids couldn't stop grinning. I couldn't stop grinning. This was definitely a highlight of the year for basketball."
Haje Halabi, MSHS HOD for Health and Physical Education expressed his enthusiasm, as well as the excitement of participating students, in an email to the team's organizers:
"Please wholeheartedly thank the coach, assistant coach, support staff
and all the women, what fine examples of wonderful sports they are! We
know your schedule was busy but we really appreciate you coming to WAB
today. Our kids were so thrilled with the way the Australian athletes interacted with them and got them involved. During the entire session, there was non stop action, with lots of fun, smiling faces and lots of great humour. I have seen many sportspeople come to schools over the years, both internationally and in Australia, these women were wonderful in what they did and how they did it. The activities were fun and challenging and you got all the students moving and enjoying. This was truly a special day for these fortunate students."
"The women presented themselves as real ambassadors and role models," Allison said, "something for all of our kids to look up to."
