| How do you say piñata in Chinese? |
On May 28, Spanish language students and native speakers in the MS/HS attended ‘Pura Vida 2008’. Here we participated in piñata breaking, and the high school students let out some steam after final exams whilst swinging at the star shaped piñata. As well as this, Mexican food was available, including tacos (with soft shells – yum), frijoles (beans), guacamole and salsas – also there was a drink called "agua de horchata." We took time to enjoy some acts, including some movies which were very good (such as one featuring Barbies, Corre Juan Corre, and Dos Horas). Many were courageous in speaking the foreign language, and the MCs, who were given their job at last minute, managed to pull it together fairly well. Mr. McCarthy was also seen singing ‘Adios le Pido’ and Stephanie sang ‘Hero’ in Spanish – both were very entertaining. Overall, the day turned out successfully, and all feedback will help us to make our second ‘Pura Vida’ even better than the first.
