MS Students Write as Little as Possible

Winners of the MS Microstory Contest will be announced at the MS assembly on Thursday June 12, but until then, the Red Scroll Library shares two amazing microstories written by two Grade 7 students.

Innocence, by June, 7.5

Silence.
And then? A footstep.
Gently, softly, treading upon the wooden floor.
And then? A voice.
Whispering a secret, a melodic song of ancient origins.
And then? A jingle.
The jingling of bells, clear and concise in the air, as if it was accompanying the voice.
And then?
Impatiently, he sat up in bed. If one could imagine the frantic whimpers of an enclosed wild animal, one could almost hear the screams entangled in his whispers.
“And then?!”
The footsteps stopped, the voice halted, even the jingles faded out.
A mouse scampered across the room.
And then?
“Santa?” He asked.

The Temple, by Andre, 7.1
After a long and perilous journey, he had finally made it. Tiredly he looked up, and saw The Temple. The Temple was built for merely one reason, to house the Altar, a great and majestic object. With relief, the boy dropped his large pack and rushed inside. Sure enough, there it was, the Altar, shining with utter magnificence. Overwhelmed with awe, the boy slowly moved toward it. With a trembling hand, he turned it on. The Altar sprang to life, and he flipped to his favorite channel. Hey, after a hard day of school, he deserved a little TV time.
