Representatives from WAB's PTA and China Studies Department delivered over 10,000 mooncakes to low income communities in the WAB neighborhood on Wednesday afternoon. Many thanks to everyone who contributed mooncakes to the PTA's annual collection, including China World, which donated 10,000 mooncakes, and WAB families, who donated enough treats to pack four moving boxes full!
China Studies Department Head Wang Wenjing was giddy with excitement when she received a call from a WAB parent, Lucy Chang, who brought the news of China World's donation.
The mooncakes were distributed to grateful recipients at old people's homes, a kindergarten, orphanages and the Taoyuan and Yuying migrant schools.
"It was great to see the recipients' pleasure in the mooncakes and their delight in our company," reported Liz Durkin, Chair of the PTA Charity Committee, "but most of all we were struck by the enthusiasm with which they asked when our school children would next come to visit. WAB is definitely part of the local Chinese community!"
