Recently, the PTA - Friends of Libraries facilitated this year's first whole school Book Fair! The Founders' Theater was transformed into one large bookstore - on offer was a wide selection of books for a diverse audience: ECC, ES, MS, HS and parents. It was certainly a collaborative effort from many people that resulted in two full days of "book bliss" for the WAB community! Remember - there will be another Whole School Book Fair - April 14 & 15, 2010!
Some of the comments we heard from students, teachers, and parents...
"Very good selection of books here!"
"Wow, it's like a bookstore!"
"I wish I could stay here all day!"
"I have to come back to stock up for myself!"
"Do I have enough money to buy one more book?"
"Fantastic venue!"
"I love the book marks!"
"Great middle school book selection!"
"Something for everyone!"
"Can we come back here later?"
"How many more books can I buy with this money?"
One of the objectives for Friends of Library [FOL] is..."to make English books more accessible to the WAB community and foster the love of reading." This was certainly accomplished!
Many thanks must go to these WAB Parents & staff...
Emma Lee for the fabulous custom design of the WAB campus for the banners, posters, and book marks.
Julia Bayly for organizing our creative and communication efforts.
Xavier Giard for organizing the logistics and set up for the fair.
John Byrne, Trish McNair, Helena Trevor and the library staff for all their guidance and support.
The many parents (the ones in the YELLOW CAPS!) who volunteered their time to work at the fair assisting the students!
I hope you can curl up with a great new book from the Book Fair and read and relax!
