Last week members of the PTA Charity Committee delivered toiletries, donated by WAB families, to students at the Rural Women’s Foundation. The founder of this vocational center, Leslie Chu, led us on a tour of the facilities along with Principal Luo. The young girls from rural China were genuinely excited to receive the toiletry gifts. Part of the fun was explaining to the girls what the different items are, since the names on bottles are generally written in English. For those members of the committee with limited Chinese, charades always provides a good laugh for all.
A few weeks ago, the committee brought Mooncakes to children at the Taoyuan Migrant School in Beijing. The PTA Charity Committee, through donations from the WAB Community, help Taoyuan during the year by providing clothing, oil and rice, sponsorship of school fees through the Small Change Appeal, and sometimes one-off items such as Mooncakes or Candy/Lollies & toothbrushes after Halloween.
The PTA Charity Committee provides many opportunities throughout the year for WAB families to make a difference in the lives of others. The Annual Charity Bazaar will take place on November 21 from 10:30am-3:00pm.
