WAB Hosts College Fairs
WAB's hosted two college fairs this week in the High School, as well as several workshops focused on assisting HS students as they prepare to apply for colleges and universities.
Starting a New Life Abroad
All WAB parents (new and returning) are welcome to attend a parent coffee morning with MS Counselor Karin Shipley on Tuesday September 9, 9:00am-10:00am, in the Middle School Loft. Parents are invited to participate in a discussion on "Starting a New Life Abroad."
US College Tour: Spring Break 2009
A college tour to the USA is being planned during the spring break of the 2008/2009 school year. From March 14 - March 21, 2009, participating students and parents will experience a first-hand look at colleges and universities and meet with admissions representatives. The tour will enable students to get a sense of what the colleges have to offer and provide an opportunity to have their questions answered.
Who is My HS Counselor for the 2008/2009 School Year?
Beginning with the 2008/2009 school year, HS Counselors will be advising and supporting students based on an alphabetical system, rather than the grade level system in place this school year. This means that all students with a surname beginning with a letter between A - H will be advised by Dr. Cheryl Travers. All students with I - Q surnames will be advised by Greg Bishop. And all R - Z students will be advised by WAB's incoming new HS Counselor Aleka Bilan.
Hospitality Career Week
High School Students interested in a Hospitality Career are invited to apply for the International College of Hotel Management Career Week, which will take place in Adelaide, Australia from September 29 - October 3, 2008. Students entering Grade 11 or Grade 12 for the 2008/2009 school year are eligible. This is a live-in introduction to hotel management and an opportunity to experience first hand the hotel/hospitality environment. Please note the dates of this career week coincide with the Chinese National Holiday. If interested, see Dr. Cheryl Travers in the HS Guidance office, or email her at ctravers@wab.edu.
SAT Exam: June 7 Reminder
HS students registered to sit the SAT Exam on June 7 are reminded of the following....
Easing Transitions
As the school year winds down, and end-of-year activities increase, so does our excitement, and, in some cases, apprehension, for the coming year. Some of us are preparing to transition to other regions and schools, including all leaving families, teachers and staff, as well as our Grade 12 students. Others of us, including Pre-K, Grade 5 and Grade 8 students and their parents, are entering a period of transition from one school section to the next. All of us, however, are entering a period of transition as we acknowledge the end of another school year.
Counselors Workshop for Leaving Families
Leaving families are invited to attend a parent coffee morning with WAB ES Counselors on Tuesday May 27, 9:00am - 10:00am, Lotus Lounge (ES). The morning will allow time to discuss any questions and concerns you might have about transition in an informal gathering of parents sharing the same experience. Please RSVP to Julie Yu, ES Counseling Secretary, at Julie_yu@wab.edu.
