Johanne, Grade 10, describes her personal journey of struggling to swim 12-meters in the WAB pool during HPE class to rising every morning before dawn in order to train herself to swim an easy 1,500-meters. Read this inspiring story of how one WAB student took risks, recongized an opportunity to increase her balance and opened her mind to something she'd once dreaded.  <br />

Girls' Rugby Report

The WAB girls' rugby teams had their first games of the season on Friday 12th September at ISB. The Varsity girls played a fantastic match against ISB with the result 5-5.

Varsity Volleyball Starts Strong

The Varsity Boys Volleyball Team recorded their first win this season taking Dulwich College of Beijing in three straight sets. The boys opened the match with a convincing 25-14 win with strong passing and hitting coming from all players. In the second and third set scores the Tigers won 25-18 and 26-24. The boys hard work and focus in practice prepared them for this match and their skills showed as they were the stronger team on the court. The boys however still have some work to do before the ISAC and APAC tournaments.

Adult Swim

The Tigersharks are proud to offer WAB’s first Master’s Swim Team. Interested parents, teachers and other members of the WAB community can train with the Tigersharks Speed Team and with Coach Lali Jochmann to improve on their skills, speed, endurance and stamina.

WABX Welcomes New Year, Participation in APAC

In the after glow of the Olympics, WAB is now in a position to repeat the previous experience. For those who have not yet heard the news, this year WAB is stepping up and entering into full membership and participation of Asia Pacific Activities Conference (APAC).

WAB's Tigersharks Swim Team Dives into New Season

Welcome to Tigersharks for the 2008/2009 school year! In accordance with WAB's mission, and in response to our swimmers' growing needs, Tigersharks introduces a new opportunity this school year for our swimmers to achieve excellence in the pool. This year the Tigersharks are offering two options for swimmers who wish to compete in our afterschool program.

WAB Golf Tournament

On Sunday June 1st , Western Academy of Beijing held its inaugural WAB Community Golf Tournament at the nearby Riverside Golf Course. This tournament was created to help expand WAB’s golf program and "Tee-off’ a new 2008/2009 After-School Activity (ASA) which will establish a weekly golfing session between WAB High School "peer coaches" and Special Olympics athletes from the Shunyi Special School.

Tigersharks Focus on 2008/2009 School Year

After another year of progress we have arrived at a point where many of our swimmers have expressed their desire and shown their readiness to train and compete at a higher level. Also the swim parent community has expressed their wish for more focused training and racing opportunities. To optimally cater to these needs we are introducing the Tigersharks Speed Team. Starting with the 2008/2009 school year this team will bring together swimmers from Grade 4 and up who are ready to take on the responsibility of being part of a highly competitive team.

Tigersharks Motivate

A Grade 5 parent thanks the Tigersharks coaches for allowing her son the opportunity to become "a much stronger swimmer" and a more "independent child."
